Careers Growth Chat: Transferable Skills for Nutrition Careers

The Nutrition Graduates Career Growth Sessions are a monthly 30-minute live session designed to support students, recent graduates and early-career nutrition professionals as they navigate the first steps of their career journey. Each session focuses on a single, practical theme from: understanding the nutrition industry to building confidence and developing your professional identity as a nutritionist.
These sessions focus on the real-world insights, behaviours and industry knowledge that nutrition graduates rarely get access to, the things that shape confidence, clarity and career direction. By strengthening your understanding of the sector and your professional identity, you’ll be better equipped for the practical steps of job-seeking. Please note that these sessions will not be recorded.
About the host
These sessions will be hosted by our Development Coordinator & Registered Nutritionist, Haley Bell. Over the past 8 years, she has built a varied career spanning government, academia, industry, communications and consultancy. Her previous roles include work with the Department of Health & Social Care, Eat Well Global, Public Health England, the University of Cambridge and the World Sugar Research Organisation. Haley now works independently as a freelance nutritionist, drawing on her cross sector experience to support organisations through tailored consultancy projects.
Mays Topic of Discussion is Transferable Skills for Nutrition Careers
Many graduates underestimate the value of the skills they have already developed before securing their first role. This session will help you recognise the transferable skills built through your degree, part time work, volunteering and wider life experience, and how these genuinely map onto nutrition and health careers. We’ll focus on key areas such as analytical thinking, communication, teamwork, reliability and professional judgement, helping you feel more confident in articulating the value you already bring.
